While there’s much to experience at The Wire, we also encourage you to explore the history and beauty of the Hudson River Valley. The famous Hudson River School painting movement was born just 20 minutes away. Rip Van Winkle took his famous snooze in this neck of the woods. The magic and majesty of this region continue to draw visitors from all over the world.
Take a stroll down Coxsackie’s South River and Reed Streets, a well-preserved mid-nineteenth century mercantile area right around the corner from the Wire, for a coffee and some shopping. Then head back and rent a kayak for a ride on the river. Take the kids to the playground in the nearby Coxsackie Riverside Park or stretch out on a chaise-lounge by the water. When you’re ready, head off to explore the area’s many attractions. Book a river excursion, visit the Hudson-Athens lighthouse, go antiquing, hike local trails, play a round of golf and so much more.
